Patriots’ Gronkowski gets first crack at ‘Boomer’ in Patriots’ game
The Patriots have a new wide receiver and the first-round pick is one of the first ones to step up.
With Rob Gronkowski still recovering from a back injury and the Patriots looking to build a strong offense, they signed former Arizona Cardinals wideout Justin Hunter, according to ESPN.
Hunter is coming off a solid campaign with the Cardinals, catching 46 passes for 589 yards and four touchdowns in the NFL.
The 31-year-old Hunter was a fourth-round draft pick by the Cardinals in 2016, and he’ll make his first appearance on the Patriots’ offense this season.
With Gronkowski out of the lineup for the season, Hunter will likely be the team’s primary target as the team looks to build around quarterback Tom Brady.
With Hunter, the Patriots will have two talented wide receivers capable of filling out their offense.
Hunter had a breakout season with the Titans last season, catching 66 passes for 899 yards and nine touchdowns.
Hunter has also seen time at wide receiver in the past, and the New England offense is going to need him to be effective this season, especially when Gronkowski returns.
The Patriots also added linebacker Nick Bosa, a 6-foot-2, 232-pound prospect who was one of several linebackers selected in the first round of the NFL Draft last year.
Bosa, who spent last season with LSU, was a first-team All-SEC selection as a linebacker at LSU in 2016.
He was also a second-team all-conference pick in 2015.
Boselli has been a key piece for the Patriots since he arrived in New England in 2017, helping to develop young players like Julian Edelman and Brandon Bolden.
He is expected to be the starter in the Patriots starting lineup and is one the team would like to keep in Boston.
